The examination registration phase for module examinations in WS 2025/26 runs from:
Mon, 12.01.2026, 1 pm – Mon, 26.01.2026, 1 pm
Please log in during this period for all examinations you wish to take in the current semester. If you have any problems with exam registration, please contact us immediately during the exam registration period.
We cannot log you in after the examination registration period has expired, unless one of the following two exceptions applies:
- if a medical certificate is available stating that registration was not possible by the end of the registration deadline for health reasons, or
- if registration was not possible for technical reasons, if it can be proven (via log entries, screenshot or similar) that registration was attempted before the registration deadline and if the Student Advising Office was informed of the problem as soon as possible (i.e. specifically: only in cases where someone tried to register in vain very shortly before the deadline and contacted the Student Advising Office shortly after the deadline).
Therefore, please pay close attention to the registration phases, write them down in your calendar and set yourself an alert.
Here you will find an overview of our examination types and dates in the winter semester 2025/26.
Overview of examination modalities and dates for old examination regulations (PO 2019)
Overview of examination modalities and dates for the new examination regulations (PO 2025/26)
In the overview you will find examination forms for the B.A. major (subject) and minor and all M.A. modules, with information on the courses relevant for examinations and the deadlines for submitting term papers, as well as the examination dates for all examination regulations.
The make-up date for the exams in the winter semester 2025/26 is:
10.03.2026, 10.00 a.m. (room to be announced)
The make-up date is intended for those students who are unable to take the examinations on the originally scheduled examination dates due to possible overlaps between several examinations. If several examinations take place on the same day but at different times, you are also entitled to take part in the make-up date.
If this applies to you, please first register for the regularly scheduled examination date in JOGU-StINe and then inform the Educational Science student advising office by e-mail at the address below so that we can log you in for the make-up date. Please arrive on time and bring your student ID card or photo ID with you to the make-up date.
Studienbuero-erziehungswissenschaft@uni-mainz.de
If you would like to view your written examinations (exams, take-home exams, term papers, reports, etc.), please first send an email to the Educational Science student advising office: Studienbuero-erziehungswissenschaft@uni-mainz.de
You can then view your written examinations at the next consultation appointment with Mr. Ruppert. If you still have questions afterwards, your examinations can be forwarded to the examiner so that you can discuss them.
However, if you would like to discuss your written examinations directly with your examiner without first viewing them at the student advising office, please inform the Office of Student Affairs accordingly in your e-mail request. The student advising office will then forward your examination directly to your examiner.
In your request to the student advising office, please be sure to state
- the module number (M.02.052.XXXX)
- the name of the examiner
- the semester in which the examination was taken
Sick leave examinations
Exams | Oral examinations
If you are unable to take part in an exam or oral final module examination due to illness or other valid reasons, please inform the student advising office as soon as possible and submit your medical certificate or other proof immediately. The medical certificate can be issued informally by a doctor, provided it contains all the information on the certificate form available for download here. It is important that in the event of illness it is confirmed that the examination candidate is NOT ABLE TO TAKE the examination in question. Certificates that merely certify an inability to work will not be recognized.
Excused final module examinations must be made up in the following semester. You must then log in again. You will not be automatically logged in by the student advising office. If you are absent from the examination without an excuse, the examination will be graded as “fail” (5.0). In this case, you must also take the re-sit examination in the examination phase of the following semester at the latest.
Other valid reasons that are recognized are, for example, the illness of your own child, caring for relatives in need of care, bereavement, closure of daycare centers and schools, ordered home isolation or quarantine, etc.. Proof is also required in these cases. You are welcome to contact us in unclear cases.
Term papers | Internship reports | Research reports
If you have to interrupt the processing of your written module examinations (term papers, internship and project reports, etc.) for a certain period of time during the examination phase due to illness or other valid reasons, you can apply for a renewal of the submission deadline for the duration of the interruption. The reasons must be proven accordingly.
If you fall ill, you must submit a medical certificate. This must certify that you are unable to take the exam for a certain period of time due to illness. The submission deadline will then be renewed by the certified days of illness.
The certificate mustbe submitted immediately, i.e. without culpable delay, by e-mail to the student advising office for educational science(studienbuero-erziehungswissenschaft@uni-mainz.de). You will be informed of the new submission deadline by email once the certificate has been received.
You can choose between these two options for the certificate:
The doctor confirms the duration of the illness and the inability to take the examination on the certificate form provided here.
The attestation form and the corresponding instructions can be found in the download area on the right.
In column 3 of the table (module/module name/module no./course title) it is sufficient to enter the number of the module examination (M.02.052.XXXX).
If you wish to withdraw from the examination in the relevant examination cycle due to a prolonged illness, you must check the box in the certificate form:
“The illness is passing permanently/indefinitely” must be ticked.
In this case, we will enter an excused non-participation in Jogustine for the examination(s) concerned, so that no unsuccessful attempt will be credited for this. Once the recognized reasons (e.g. illness) no longer apply, the examination must be logged in and taken again on the next possible examination date.
The medical certificate can be issued informally by a doctor, provided that it contains all the information on the above-mentioned certificate form. It is important that in the event of illness it is confirmed that the examination candidate is NOT ABLE TO TAKE the examination in question. Certificates that merely certify an inability to work will not be recognized.
Other valid reasons that are recognized are, for example, the illness of your own child, caring for relatives in need of care, bereavement, closure of daycare centers and schools, ordered home isolation or quarantine, etc.. Proof is also required in these cases. You are welcome to contact us in unclear cases.
If you have failed a module examination in the subject of Educational Science that you have logged in at the first attempt, you must register for the first retake of the module examination within six months of failing it. This means that you must repeat a module examination that you failed in the first attempt in the next examination cycle of the following semester. It does not matter whether the associated courses of the module in question are offered annually or semi-annually, as we offer the module examinations of all modules every semester in the examination registration phase in Jogustine and you can therefore log in for them every semester.
Please note that you must log in to the first re-sit examination independently during the specified examination registration phase. You will not be logged in automatically. If you fail to register for a re-sit examination without giving a reason, you will be deemed to have failed the examination again. The same deadlines and regulations apply to registration for the second re-sit examination as for registration for the first re-sit examination. The registration deadline for a re-sit examination can be postponed if there are valid reasons. In this case, an informal written proposal stating and proving the reasons must be submitted to the Educational Science student advising office before the end of the examination registration period.
A module examination can be repeated a maximum of two times. If a module examination has not been passed a total of three times, it is deemed to have failed with no option to re-sit.
If you need a new TAN block, you can request one via JOGU-StINe or via the web form.
BA and MA theses are not logged in and handed in at the Institute of Educational Science, but at the Central Examination Office of Faculty 02.
If you have any questions regarding semester re-registration, please contact the JGU Central Student Office.
Here you will find all relevant information on BA theses, including the document for registration: Procedure for Bachelor’s and Master’s theses
